Abstract

906,416. Brushes. BRAITHWAITE, J. B., and BRAITHWAITE, M. M. Aug. 23, 1960 [Aug. 26, 1959], No. 29174/60. Class 19. A casing, united with a brush 4, houses a collapsible tube 12 containing an extrudable material and provided with an outlet 22 united with a non-return dispensing valve 13 formed of an elastomeric material and provided with one or more normally closed orifices 26 through which the extrudable material passes under pressure, causing elastic deformation thereof under the influence of compressive means applied to the tube. As shown, the casing is in two parts 1, 2 held together by screws and providing longitudinal slots 14 which are traversed by a slotted winder 16 engaging the closed end of the tube 12. A polishing pad 3 comprising a foamed elastomer covered with polishing fabric secured to a wooden support is also attached to the base of the housing. In a modification the parts 1, 2 are hinged together at one pair of ends and provided with a spring clip or other locking means at the other pair of ends.
