Abstract

A drying-oil-based ink contains an organic sulphonyl halide as catalyst for polymerization on exposure to "cold energy" (a -, b -, g -, X-, or preferably ultra-violet radiation). The preferred oil is tung oil, but linseed, rape seed, poppy seed, castor, or styrenated dehydrated castor oil may be added to it. Specific halides mentioned are: methane; ethane; p-toluene; 2,5-dimethyl benzene; or 2-naphthalene sulphonyl chlorides, and m-chlorosulphonyl benzoyl chloride. At least 30% by weight of the compartments of the oil contain conjugated unsaturation. U.S.A. Specification 2,579,095 is referred to.
