Abstract
905,679. Winding wire. SYNCRO MACHINE CO. June 29, 1959 [April 6, 1959], No. 22284/59. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XVII] A wire-coiling machine comprises a member for supporting a multi-turn single layer of wire to be coiled, a rotating drum near said support member and having means for simultaneously removing said turns successively from one end of said layer and wrapping the wire on said member at the other end of said layer, and means for guiding the wire into a package comprising superposed layers consisting of a plurality of convolutions. Wire W passes over a guide pulley 34 and down a rotating hollow shaft 36 over pulleys 68, 60, carried by a drum 56 secured to the rotating shaft 36, on to a stationary drum 55 where it forms a coil WL which pushes the preceding turn upwards. The wire in the topmost turn passes from the drum 55, through a helical tube 62 carried by the rotating drum 56 into a container 22 positioned therebelow. An eccentric opening 88 in a disc 86 rotated by means 110 or, through variable speed transmission from the means driving the shaft 36, guides the wire from the tube 62 so that it lies in a series of overlapping coils, each in the form of a cardioid. Fig. 5, between a centre post 23 and the wall of the container 22. When the container 22 is full, a handle 138 may be rocked to swing pivoted blades 120, 122 into position above the container where they support the coils being deposited while the full container is removed and replaced by an empty one.
