Abstract

905,185. Endless conveyers which automatically distribute work to predetermined stations. SCHUH - UND SATTLERMASCHINENBAU LEIPZIG VEB. May 2, 1960, No. 15371/60. Classes 78 (1) and 104 (2). Carriers 9 (Fig. 11) are propelled horizontally by endless chain 2, the engagement being made by chain pins 3, 4 which slot into carrier elements 13, 14 and are thus distributed to working stations in accordance with the manual setting of keys 69 mounted on the carrier. Selected working station (Fig. 5). The engagement of the keys 69 of a carrier with electrical contacts at that station effects momentary energization of solenoid 21. This causes segment 44 to be lowered, which allows pin 41 to spring into engagement with wheel 36, to thus couple member 38 to said wheel 36; and, since member 36 is constantly rotating because it is driven from chain 2, shaft 33 rotates to drive endless elevator 100. The latter therefore, as it rises, causes a carrier bar 19 to hook under notch 75 (Fig. 11) of the carrier, and lifts the carrier upwards till a projection on the elevator frees segment 44 and allows a spring to return it into engagement with pin 41. The latter therefore is withdrawn to the right. This disconnects the elevator from rotating wheel 36 and the carrier is held stationary by pawl 58 in the upper receiving position 15 of elevator 100. The carrier is then displaced leftwards by engagement of a gear-wheel with toothed rail 84 (Fig. 11) mounted on the carrier. The carrier is now in its despatch position 16 being supported by rail 23 of endless elevator 101, and the operator now processes the goods carried by the carrier. When he has finished he presses a button to energize solenoid 25. This operates in a similar way to solenoid 21 and, when an empty pair of chain pins 3, 4 is available causes the elevator and therefore the carrier to descend and the carrier to lower itself on to the chain 2 to be conveyed further.
