Abstract

The invention comprises 3-methoxy-10-[3-(4-hydroxy - 1 - piperidyl)-2-methylpropyl]-phenthiazine and its pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salts (with inorganic and organic acids) and quaternary ammonium salts (e.g. halides and toluene-p-sulphonates), and the preparation thereof by reacting 4-piperidinol with a compound of the general formula <FORM:0904210/IV (b)/1> wherein Y represents the acid residue of a reactive ester. The invention also comprises pharmaceutical preparations (having sedative, analgesic and antiemetic activity) comprising the above compounds in association with a significant amount of a pharmaceutical carrier. They may be in forms suitable for parenteral or preferably oral administration, e.g. solutions, suspensions, syrups, elixirs, emulsions, powders, tablets or capsules.
