A mobile machine for the preparation of bituminous mixes for road building purposes, comprises a wheeled bridge-shaped chassis for supporting a mixer and two-part mixer tower 22, 23, a hot bucket elevator 45 for conveying heated material from a drying drum (not shown) to the mixer tower and a loading bucket elevator 48 for supplying the mixer output to a hopper. The machine is prepared for transportation by pivoting the upper part of the tower 23 through an angle of 180 degrees to a position between the chassis members, lowering the hot bucket elevator, which is also provided with wheels, to a horizontal position and uncoupling it from the chassis and retracting the telescopic arms 51, 50 of the loading bucket elevator to a position between and below the chassis members. The upper part 23 of the tower is rigidly connected by brackets 24 to a pivot shaft 25 which is mounted in bearing brackets 26 attached to the machine chassis and the ends of the shaft are rigidly connected to two crank arms 27, 28, offset by approximately 60 degrees. The ends of the crank arms are pinned in slots formed in the ends of racks 29, 35 which are driven by hand winches 34, pivotally mounted on the chassis 10. These winches control the pivoting of the top part of the tower about shaft 25. The hot bucket elevator is supported at bearing points 44 on the swept down portion of the chassis 10 and is pivoted about these points by a pair of hand winches 57 which are pivotally connected to brackets 60 attached to the chassis and engage the elevator at points 62 by means of their racks 61.
