903,418. Making heat exchangers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 30, 1960 [Dec. 11, 1959], No. 42215/59. Class 83 (2). In a method of securing a plurality of tubes 3 in a partition 1, a sealing tube 7 is provided for each tube 3 and is arranged within a hole 2 in the partition, the sealing tube being of greater diameter than the tube 3 and the projection of each sealing tube on one side of the partition being such as to permit access for making a gastight weld on the whole periphery of the tube, notwithstanding the presence of neighbouring sealing tubes, and the projection of each sealing tube on the other side of the partition being such that the end of the tube may be flexed away from any neighbouring sealing tubes to give access for making a gas-tight weld 8 between the sealing tube and the corresponding tube 3. The partition 1 is machined around each hole 2 to provide a flange 6.
