Abstract

Modified crystalline polyolefins having improved capacity for dyestuffs, are obtained by dissolution therein of an N,N,N-trialkyl ammonium or N,N-dialkyl-N,N-(X)-ammonium alkyl benzene sulphonate, wherein the aromatic alkyl has 1 to 18 C atoms, the other alkyls have 12 to 18 C atoms and (X) is two polyethylene oxide residues each having terminal -OH with the number of ethylene oxide residues being from 2 to 15. Polyolefins specified are polyethylene and polypropylene. The modified polyolefins may be drawn to form filaments which may be dyed, e.g. with Solacet dyes. Specification 810,023 is referred to.
