Abstract

902,565. Reels. POWER AUXILIARIES Ltd. Jan. 16, 1959 [Oct. 18, 1957], No. 32546/57. Class 99(2). A reel for flexible tubes e.g. corrugated metal tubes, comprises a drum 1, Fig. 1, constructed so that winding starts substantially at the centre of the length of the drum, which corresponds at least near the cone to two or three turns, so that the direction of twist imposed on the tube by the winding operation is reversed at one of the flanges after the completion of a number of turns corresponding to half the length of the drum. The core of the drum is profiled at 5, 7, 8, 9 to support the windings, and may be constructed to support layers of greater axial length near its periphery than near its cone, the percentage increase in axial length being equal to or less than the percentage increase in diameter of the particular layer. In an arrangement of reels 14, 15, Fig. 4, tubes 10, 11 conduct liquid to a heat exchanger body 12, which is movable vertically by means of a cable 13.
