Abstract

902,353. Containers. ARTISTIC CONTAINERS Ltd., and HARMAN, F. A. Dec. 11, 1959 [Sept. 25, 1958; Nov. 4, 1958], Nos. 30599/58 and 35310/58. Class 18. A cosmetic container comprises a cover 10, a propelling mechanism consisting of a coil spring 11 housed in the cover, and rotatable therein by a knob 8, and a cup 6 axially traversable in the bore 13 of the cover 10 with plungers 14 which frictionally engage the bore between adjoining convolutions of the spring 11, whereby upon rotation of the spring the frictional coupling prevents rotation of the cup but permits it to travel within the spring and to be projected or withdrawn relative to the cover. The plungers 14 may be pierced and raised in the wall of the cup 6. In a modification, Fig. 4, the plungers 17 are spring loaded and pass through the wall of the cup at an acute angle to the axis of the cover in conformity with the pitch of the spring. According to the first Provisional Specification the salve cover may be split or grooved to guide the plungers and, the salve may be attached to a plug which provides the spring plungers.
