Abstract
902,332. Sausage skins; drying. BERTH, LEVI & CO. Inc. Nov. 13, 1958 [Aug. 8, 1958], No. 36613/58. Class 28 (2). [Also in Group XIII] Wet sausage casings 10 are pushed on a perforated tube 16 through which air, which may be heated and or dried, is blown to dry the casings. The casings may then be shirred on a cardboard tube for introduction to the stuffing horn of a sausage filling machine. Short lengths of casing overlapped on the tube 16 become jointed together by the drying. The tube 16 terminates in a taper 13 on which the casing is secured by an elastic band 14. The drying air may be supplied at 70 Ibs. p.s.i.
