Abstract

901,604. Hot-water boilers. VORKAUF, H. Dec. 15, 1960 [Dec. 28, 1959], No. 43269/60. Class 64 (1). A hot-water boiler has a radiant heating section and a convection heating section; water is first of all supplied to distributing headers of the radiant heating section, flows through the pipes of this section where it is heated, mixed in upper collecting headers, and then supplied to the distributing header of the convection heating section. The upper collecting headers are connected by non-heated return tubes to the distributing headers of the radiant heating section. The roof and four walls of a combustion chamber 1 make up the radiant heating surfaces of a hot-water boiler and consists of water tubes closely spaced apart from one another imbedded in a refractory material 19 (Fig. 3). Further thermal insulation 20 is arranged on the outside of the chamber. With half the surface of each tube covered at the side remote from the heating source, there are no " dead " places where corrosive deposits can form. Water is supplied to the radiant heating surfaces via distribution inlet headers 7 and 9 and 11, and mixed in collecting headers 8 and 10. It then flows to a convection heating surface section distributing header 14 via pipes 13. Pipe 16 is the final outlet for the heated water, having been collected in header 15. Arranged between the headers 7 and 8 are return tubes 12 which are not heated, and pipe 17 is a vent pipe. In a second embodiment (not shown), the convection heating surface section is arranged above the radiant heating surface section, all enclosed in one chamber.
