Abstract

901,521. Induction heating. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 5, 1958 [Aug. 8, 1957], No. 25040/58. Class 39 (3). [Also in Group XXX] Induction heating apparatus for treating workpieces of greatly differing sizes includes interchangeable units, each having an inductor appropriately dimensioned for a given workpiece. Means are provided for intermittently transporting the workpieces through the inductor. Each unit includes an inductor coil 15, fixed workpiece-supporting rails 20 and movable rails 6. The unit is locatable by a pin 3 and edge 4 which engage in apertures 2 provided in a main frame 1. Pin 3<SP>1</SP> and edge 4<SP>1</SP> provided on a frame 18 supporting the rails 6 engage in apertures 19 of a frame 9 which is moved by an eccentric 10 acting on linkage 13<SP>1</SP>, 11, 7, 8, and by an eccentric 14 acting on a lever 13, 12. The apertures 2, 19 are longer than the edges 4, 4<SP>1</SP> to allow for thermal expansion. The movement of the rails 6, co-operating with the stationary rails 20, produces step-by-step movement of workpieces through the coil 15 to which water and current supplies are detachably connected at 24. A discharge shoot 23 is provided.
