Abstract

Vat dyestuffs of the dibenzanthrone series are made by heating an aminodibenzanthrone with a primary hydroxyalkylamine. The aminodibenzanthrones used include mono-and diamines of dibenzanthrone and isodibenzanthrone obtained by reducing nitro-dibenzanthrones made by the nitration of dibenzanthrone or isodibenzanthrone. Examples are given. The dyes dye or print fibres of natural or regenerated cellulose in blue or black shades.
