Abstract
900,888. Thermo-electric generators. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. June 1, 1960 [June 19, 1959], No. 21176/59. Class 37. A thermo-electric generator comprises a stack of apertured discs, Fig. 2, the hot junctions being formed on the inside of the tubular structure by flanges 5 around the periphery of the aperture on alternate discs, e.g. 2, and the cold junctions on the outsides of the structure by flanges 6 around the periphery of the other discs, e.g. 3, the remainder of the space between the discs being filled by insulating material 7 and 8. The complete structure may be made of the same basic material appropriately doped to give e.g. P-type material for disc 2, N-type material for disc 3, and insulating properties for 7 and 8, in order that all parts have the same coefficient of thermal expansion. The discs and insulating material may be formed and/or joined by sintering or hot pressing operations.
