Abstract

900,592. Telescopic pit props. HEESE, H. Oct. 24, 1958 [Oct. 24, 1957], No. 34136/58. Class 20 (2). In a pit-prop comprising three telescopic members 1, 8, 30 the members 1, 8 have a buffer spring 3 disposed therebetween and the members 8, 30 are clamped together by a clamp 32 which has limbs accommodating a wedge 35 adapted to act on a pressuremember 34 displaceable in a limited direction parallel to the axis of the prop. The member 34 is pressure-loaded by a spring 39 and its degree of axial movement is controlled by the depth of a recess 42 in a cover 40 bolted to the clamp 32. The members 32, 34 are provided with aluminiurn friction linings 43, 44 and the member 30 with a rubber buffer 45. Loading of the spring 3 is effected by a wedge 11 which is driven in before the prop is erected.
