Abstract

Self-sterilizing material suitable for the manufacture of packing materials for food and pharmaceuticals, comprises a thermoplastic polymer and thymol, 4-n-hexylresorcinol and/or 4-n-octylresorcinol. Specified polymers are polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyvinylidene chloride and rubber hydrochloride. The material may be formed into bags, bottles, wrapping, vials, tubes and laminated foil.ALSO:Self-sterilizing material suitable for the manufacture of packing materials for food and pharmaceuticals, comprises a thermoplastic polymer and thymol, 4-n-hexylresorcinol and/or 4-n-octylresorcinol. Specified polymers are polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyvinylidine chloride and rubber hydrochloride. The material may be formed into bags, bottles, wrapping, vials, tubes and laminated foil.
