Abstract

Compositions for intravenous use for the lysis of blood-clots comprise streptokinase, staphylokinase or urokinase and an inhibitor of plasminogen activation which is an aliphatic organic compound having an acyl group and an amino group separated by 3 to 7 carbon atoms, the amount of inhibitor being at least 1.5 m g., preferably 30 to 300 m g., per unit of streptokinase, staphylokinase or urokinase. Specified inhibitors are epsilon amino caproic acid, delta amino valeric acid, gamma amino butyric acid, N-mono-methyl gamma amino butyric acid and the C1-4 alkyl esters of lysine and arginine.
