Abstract
Synthetic resin compositions, e.g. coating compositions, comprise one or more alkyl thiuram mono- or di-sulphides together with a water-insoluble salt of pentachlorophenol. The thiuram compound may be tetramethyl, tetraethyl or tetrapropyl thiuram mono- or disulphide or bis-pentamethylene thiuram disulphide and the salt may be copper, lead, cadmium or zinc pentachlorophenate. The resin may be styrene-butadiene copolymer, polyvinyl propionate, polyvinyl chloride or chlorinated rubber as a coating composition emulsion or a lacquer of polyester-polyurethane type and the examples describe paints from polyvinyl acetate and an alkyd resin.
