Abstract

Paints comprising a dyestuff dispersed in polyvinyl acetate contain zinc dimethyl dithiocarbamate or a known fungicidal phenyl mercury compound or mixtures thereof to protect them against fungal attack. Specified phenyl mercury compounds are phenyl mercuric hydroxide, chloride, borate, nitrate, acetate, oleate and -8-hydroxyquinolate.ALSO:Agents with fungicidal, bactericidal and algicidal action comprise zinc dimethyl dithiocarbamate and a known fungicidal phenyl mercury compound. Specified phenyl mercury compounds are phenyl mercuric hydroxide and its salts with acids and phenols, e.g. phenyl mercuric chloride, phenyl mercuric borate, phenyl mercuric nitrate, phenyl - mercuric acetate, phenyl-mercuric oleate and phenyl-mercuric-8-hydroxyquinolate. The agents may be added to polyvinyl acetate-dyestuff paints (see Group IV (a)).
