Abstract

895,490. Preventing corrosion. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 15, 1960 [July 15, 1959], No. 24314/59. Class 123(1). Corrosion at or near ground level of a metal post having its base portion buried is prevented by encasing a portion of the post in a watertight sleeve which extends from about a foot above to a foot below the ground level. In the form shown, the sleeve consistsof two half-cylindrical sections 1, 2 moulded from polyethylene which fit snugly around the post and are secured together by dumb-bell section connecting strips 6. A neoprene gasket strip 4 fitted into a V-shaped groove 3 provides a watertightseal between the upper end of the sleeve and the post.
