Abstract

895,160. Coin-freed vending apparatus. PURRETT, J. W. Feb. 20, 1961 [Nov. 20, 1959], No. 39374/59. Class 27. Cross-stacked articles, such as postcards, are supported on pairs of levers 16 pivoted at 17 and each opposed pair is alternately rocked down to release an article by one of a pair of cams 29 on a shaft 30 which is indexed by a ratchet 36 and a pawl 35 on a coin-freed plunger 32. The plunger 32 has a smooth surface at its outer extremity and a coin inserted in a shoot 41 falls into a slot in the plunger and, when the plunger is depressed, the coin raises a lever so that a pin is clear of a hole in the plunger so that the latter can be fully depressed. The levers 16 each have a bar 19 supporting the adjacent end of a card and are linked together in pairs by links 22. One lever of each pair is connected by a second link 24 to one of a pair of bell-cranks 25 which are axially spaced by a member 27 and which each have a roller 28 co-operating with the appropriate cam 29.
