Dung is removed from a stable or shed and delivered to form a heap by an endless scraper conveyer comprising an endless round-link chain e travelling around pulleys which guide it in a closed loop extending partly within and partly outside the stable or shed. The chain carries scrapers g over part of its length which rest on a trough f in the stable and on a trough h outside the stable, the latter being carried by a lattice structure of U-shape which is pivoted at bl, b<SP>11</SP> about a horizontal axis for vertical swinging so that it can be adjusted by supports or suspension means to a desired height. The trough h is discontinued at a desired point along the outer part of the lattice structure, so that the pile can be formed at successive positions, by constructing this portion of the trough h from a number of panels i each hinged to a rod k supported by bars m from the lattice structure, one of the panels being swung down where the dung is to be discharged. As the scrapers reach the discharge point these too swing down, twisting the chain. The scrapers may be pivoted to the chain to avoid twisting it. The scrapers are cleaned after discharging the dung by a guide rail n which raises them and then allows them to drop again. A further guide rail o raises the scrapers for return to the trough f.
