A self-closing valve fitting to a filling and dispensing opening 3 in a beer keg 4 comprises a body 1 arranged to fit in the opening and which has therein inner and outer annular valve seats 12, 13 and a port 43 in the wall thereof between the seats, a valve ring 14 movably mounted between the seats, a valve closure member 17 movably mounted on the inner side of the ring, and a tube 23 extending inwards from the inner end of the body. The ring is normally held on the outer seat 13 and the closure member is held against the ring by a spring 21 so that the two parts together close the valve. The ring is arranged to be moved by a spigot, which in use is inserted into the opening 3, on to the inner seat 12 to form a seal between this seat and the spigot and allow an outer passage 33 in the spigot to communicate with the keg through the port 43; the closure member is arranged to be moved by the spigot out of contact with the ring to allow an inner passage 38 in the spigot to communicate with the keg through the tube. Separate springs engaging the ring 14 and member 17 may be employed to allow the ring member, which act as two separate valves, to operate independently of each other. As shown, the cup-shaped member 1 and a ring 2 are held in the opening 3 by a screwed ring 10 provided internally with a quick-action screw-thread 11 which co-operates with projections on the spigot. The latter has connected thereto hoses 36, 41 respectively for carbon dioxide and beer and communicating with the passages 33, 38.
