Abstract

894,901. Purifying gases. UNITED STEEL CO.'S. Ltd. Oct. 8, 1958 [Oct. 9, 1957], No. 31583/57. Addition to 719,056. Class 55 (2). In a modification of the process of the parent Specification for removing sulphur compounds from gases, the oxide is regenerated at a temperature between 600‹ and 1000‹ C. The temperature in the regenerating zone may be controlled to not more than 850 ‹ C. to avoid sintering of the oxides; control may be effected by the use of cooling coils in the regeneration zone or by diluting the air used for regeneration with an inert gas or by adding inert materials such as sand or crushed brick to the circulating solids.
