Abstract
894,878. Heating ships' hulls. JONSSON, A. Jan. 30, 1961 [Feb. 1, 1960], No. 3487/61. Class 113. The inner side of a ship's hull is heated (for drying and surfacing) by heating the immersed outside of the hull. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 the ship is surrounded by a screen 2, between which and the outside of the hull below the water surface 7 there is a heating device 3 consisting of a pipe system with upwardly directed perforations which permits the warm water to escape slowly and impinge on the hull bottom. In the embodiment of Figs. 7 and 8 the screen 2 is composed of a plane canvas 11 and a "waved" canvas 12 with the spaces 15 between the canvases being inflated. Warm water is supplied through conduits 17 in the wave troughs so that warm water jets spray into the spaces 14 against the hull 13.
