In a thermoelectric system having a heat exchange member contacting two thermocouple elements 12, 13, the member has a portion 17 contacting the elements and a heat exchange portion 21 detachably connected to portion 17. As shown, the portions interfit by a conical ground joint the outer member of which is slotted and are held together by screw 23. In a modification, a cylindrical ground joint is used. In a further modification, an intermediate portion receiving a measuring device is connected between portions 17, 21. The portions are provided with an axial key or keys to prevent relative rotation. Oil or grease may be introduced into the joint between the portions. The portions may be connected by a low melting solder.
