Abstract

Crude threonine containing allo-threonine is purified by treating the copper chelates thereof with an aliphatic aldehyde containing 2-8 carbon atoms to form bis(aldehyde) bis(threoninato) copper and its allo-isomer, separating the former from the latter by fractional crystallisation in an aqueous medium, and removing copper and aldehyde from the threoninato complex, e.g. described in Specification 814,063.
