894,003. Frequency measurement; spectrum analysis. SCOTT & CO. (ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS) Ltd., JAMES. July 21, 1960, No. 25476/60. Class 37. An R.F. signal spectrum analyser comprises a mixer 1 which receives the R.F. signal and a signal from a local oscillator 3, an I.F. amplifier 5, a display circuit including a C.R.O. 21 and a feed-back circuit for the oscillator 3 including a frequency discriminator 11 so as to vary the oscillator frequency and maintain the I.F. signal derived from mixer 1 constant. The filter 23 is tuned to I.F. signals and signals from a sawtooth generator 19 are applied to the C.R.O. 21 and also sweep oscillator 3 over a certain range. A different part of the spectrum may be examined by applying a calibrated D.C. from a potentiometer 17.
