893,787. Making compressor blades; brazing. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. May 16, 1960 [July 3, 1959], No. 17178/60. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Groups XXVI and XXXII] A vibrationally damped compressor blade, Fig. 5, comprises a plurality of hollow spheres 24 bonded together and each containing a relatively movable mass 14, Fig. 3, to provide the internal damping. The spheres may be formed by electroplating a metal coating over a hollow wax former, the wax being subsequently melted to form the internal mass 14. The spheres may then be assembled in a heat resistant casing 22 and bonded thereon by brazing or electroplating.
