893,213. Joints for tubes. MAY, D. E. Jan. 27, 1961 [Feb. 1, 1960], No. 3421/60. Class 20(2) [Also in Group XXVIII] A device for assembling tubes &c. wherein the tubes are arranged so as to join, abut or cross in such a manner that the axes of opposite pairs of tubes lie in the same plane as that of a further pair of tubes assembled thereto, comprises a plug 1 having terminal shanks adapted to fit the bores of a pair of aligned tubes 4, 5, and a central stem to which can be secured the two halves 2, 3 of a longitudinally split jointing piece having shanks for the attachment of further tubes 6, 7. The shanks may be secured in the tubes by dowels 11, or screws, or the shanks may be provided with pins engageable in holes in the tubes. The device may be of rigid or flexible material and electrically insulating or conducting.
