Abstract

893,161. Extrusion dies. GARBUTT, J. W. April 17, 1958 [Jan. 18, 1957], No. 1863/57. Class 87(2). An extrusion die comprises a body 1 and a mandrel 6 having a frusto-conical portion and an end piece 9, located in the orifice and being pivotally mounted by a central bolt to be adjustable within the die body to extrude a uniform thickness tube. The mandrel 6 has a bemi-spherical seating 7 for the end piece 9 secured in position by a ball-headed bolt 10 and nut 12. A second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), utilizes an end piece integral with the frusto-conical portion secured in a bemispherical seating in the mandrel by means of a bolt with a bemi-spherical washer located in a bore in the end piece. The mandrels may have passages for air and heating elements.
