Abstract

890,871. Releasable fastenings. WURTTEMBERGISCHE ALLPLASTIK G.m.b.H. Feb. 15, 1960, No. 5240/60. Class 44. A fastening device comprises a tie provided with knobs 3 and stems 4 and an apertured member 5 at one end of the tie, the knobs and stems being arranged alternately, the knobs being all of substantially equal diameter, the stems being all of substantially equal thickness, and the apertured member having one or more apertures, the or each of which has a large portion 6 and one or more small portions with a constriction between the or each small portion and the large portion, the dimensions being such that the knobs can be passed through the large portion but not through the small portion, or any of the small portions of the or each aperture and the stems can be pressed laterally through but will not pass freely through the or each constriction of the or each aperture. In the construction shown each of the knob-like portions is of hemispherical shape the base being substantially perpendicular to the stems and facing towards the member 5. Thus the cord may easily be pulled through the aperture portion 6. The aperture has two small portions 7, 8; the portion 7 is of elongated shape and the portion 8 is of circular shape. Both are connected to the large aperture 6 by one of the constrictions 9, 10. If the tie after being passed round an object has one of its stems engaged with the aperture portion 7, the end can again be passed through the portion 6 and another stem engaged with the portion 8. The member 5 is also formed with a handle 11 for ease in handling. In a modification the member 5 is extended and has a second aperture having a large portion which is joined by the constriction to a small portion. The end of the tie after being passed through the large portion 6 and locked in the portions 7, 8 is passed through the large portion of the second aperture and locked in the associated small portion to form a carrying loop. In a further modification the opposite end of the cord to that having the member 5 is formed with a button which can be passed through the large portion 6 and locked in a small portion to join two devices together.
