Abstract

890,770. Packaging hyperdermic needles. AMERICAN HOSPITAL SUPPLY CORPORATION. May 27, 1960 [July 31, 1959], No. 18740/60. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XVII] A plastics shell 11 has a portion 19 closely surrounding the hub 15 of the needle and is closed at the base by a sheet 12. A line of weakness 23 is defined by an abrupt change 22 in the contour of the shell adapted to fracture upon downward flexure of the portion 20 relative to the main body of the shell. After bending back the part 20 the syringe is engaged with the needle and used to withdraw it from the cavity 17. The shells may be arranged in sheets with lines of weakness between them to allow separation and cuts to permit the opening of separate chambers whilst the others remain closed. The portion 20 may be bent back under the main portion to form a stand for the syringe.
