889,748. Anthelmintic compositions. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd., and MIDLAND TAR DISTILLERS Ltd. Oct. 31, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1959; Dec. 2, 1959; June 8, 1960], Nos. 40845/59, 40931/59 and 20099/60. Class 81 (1). [Also in Groups IV (a) and IV (b)] Anthelmintic preparations comprise 2-#- methoxyethylpyridine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof (including the complex with 3,3<SP>1</SP>,5,5<SP>1</SP> - tetrachloro - 2,2<SP>1</SP>- dihydroxydiphenylmethane) as active ingredient together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent or carrier therefor including adorbates of the base on ion exchange resins. The compositions may be for oral or parenteral use, may contain other veterinary drugs and/or minerals and in addition to inert diluents, fillers and disintegrating agents may contain bacteriostats, bactericidal agents, sporicidal agents, stabilizing agents, thickening agents, preservatives and pharmaceutically acceptable colouring agents. The preparations may thus be in the form of tablets, pellets, slugs or capsules, or aqueous or oily sterile solutions, and may contain cyanacethydrazide, phenothiazine, hexachlorethane, piperazine, 1 - diethylcarbamyl - 4 - methylpiperazine, carbon tetrachloride, 3,3<SP>1</SP>,5,5<SP>1</SP>,6,6<SP>1</SP>- hexaohloro - 2,2<SP>1 </SP>- dihydroxydiphenylmethane, 3,3<SP>1</SP>,4,4<SP>1</SP>,5,5<SP>1</SP>,6,6<SP>1</SP> - octachloro - 2,21 - dihydroxydiphenylmethane, copper sulphate, sodium bicarbonate or cobalt sulphate. Stabilizing agents may include hydroxylamine hydrochloride or sulphate, formaldoxime, ammonium salts or tin salts.
