889,447. Television. TELEFUNKEN G.m.b.H. May 30, 1958 [May 31, 1957; July 24, 1957], No. 17263/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 40(3). The control knob or knobs for an on/off switch or switches are mounted on the front panel of the cabinet of a television receiver, whilst the knobs for the remainder of the controls are mounted on the top. or a side of the cabinet and arranged to be covered by a displaceable cover. Two, generally similar, embodiments are described, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), the first having a single on/off control knob and the second two such knobs, one for day-time reception and the other for night-time reception. In each case the on/off control is in the form of a push button mounted just below the lower edge of the cathode ray tube mask; the other knobs are on the top of the cabinet, arranged to be covered by a hinged flap. In the embodiment having day- and night-time controls, each actuates an on/off switch, and the night-time switch additionally operates switches which reduce the contrast and brightness to levels suitable for night-time viewing This is effected by a circuit, Fig. 3 (not shown), in which the screen potential of the video amplifier is reduced and the cathode ray tube negative grid potential increased by simultaneously short-circuiting resistors in networks controlling the potentials.
