Abstract

A hair grooming composition comprises polymeric N-vinyl imidazole of molecular weight 20,000 to 400,000 in solution in an aerosol propellant and/or an anhydrous low boiling aliphatic alcohol. Specified propellants are the "Freon" (Registered Trade Mark) propellants-materials listed are trifluoroethyl chloride, trichloromonofluoromethane and dichlorodifluoromethane; methanol, ethanol and p- and isopropanols are specified alcohols. Proportions given are 1 to 3 parts polymer, 25-35 parts alcohol and 62-74 parts propellant. Compositions comprising (1) 97,99 parts ethyl alcohol, 0,01 part perfume and 2 parts polymer (2) 97,5 parts trifluoroethyl chloride and 2,5 parts polymer (3) 40 parts dichlorodifluoromethane, 28,5 parts trichloromonofluoromethane, 30 parts ethanol and 1,5 parts polymer (4) 40 parts of a mixture of 1,000 parts ethanol and 30 parts polymer, and 60 parts of either trichloromonofluoromethane or dichlorodifluoromethane or an equal part mixture thereof, and (5) 20 parts of a 10% ethanol polymer solution and 40 parts each of the two propellants of (4) are disclosed.ALSO:A hair-grooming composition comprises polymeric N-vinyl imidazole of molecular weight 20,000 to 400,000 in solution in an aerosol propellent and/or an anhydrous low boiling aliphatic alcohol. Specified propellents are the "Freon" (Registered Trade Mark) propellents -listed are trifluoroethyl chloride, trichlormonofluoromethane and dichlorodifluoromethane. Specified alcohols are methanol, ethanol, and n- and isopropanols. Proportions given are 1 to 3 parts polymer, 25-35 parts alcohol and 62-74 parts propellent. Small amounts of perfuming agent and dandruff medicament may also be present. There are disclosed compositions comprising (1) 97.99 ethyl alcohol, 0.01 perfume and 2 polymer; (2) 97.5 trifluoroethyl chloride and 2.5 polymer; (3) 40 dichlorodifluoromethane, 28.5 trichloromonofluoro-methane 30 ethanol and 1.5 polymer; (4) 40 of mixture of 1000 ethanol and 30 polymer and 60 of either trichloromonofluoromethane or dichlorodifluoromethane or 30 of each; and (5) 20 of a 10% ethanol-polymer solution and 40 each of the propellents used in the previous example.
