Abstract

Compositions for the treatment of the hair comprise sericin and a carrier therefore, the active material preferably amount to 0.1 to 1% by weight of the composition. The sericin may be obtained by the water extraction, e.g. at 70 DEG to 100 DEG C. of crude silk thread or of the contents of the seriginous glands of the silkworm, the extracting medium optionally comprising small amounts of olive oil and caustic soda.
