888,249. Diffusion pumps. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON. Nov. 18, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1959; Nov. 26, 1959], No. 39738/60. Class 71. A diffusion pump has one or more downwardly-flaring ejector cowls 9, formed at their lower edge with a plurality of salients 10 from which resilient wires 11 e.g. of stainless steel extend into contact with an internal wall face 4 so that drops of condensate are directed from the cowl towards the internal face. The pump may be surmounted by a baffle assembly 12 containing two superposed baffles 13, each in the form of a spiral which includes a coil 14 through which a cooling liquid e.g. water or " Freon " (Registered Trade Mark), may be circulated.
