Abstract

The invention comprises podophyllic acid amide and its 3-epimer, piclopodophyllic acid amide C22H23O8NH2, together with a process for their preparation by reducing the corresponding hydrazides with a metallic hydrogenation catalyst, preferably Raney nickel. In examples, podophyllic acid hydrazide (or its 3-epimer) is refluxed with Raney nickel in ethanol-ethyl acetate giving the corresponding amide. Specifications 768,919 and 886,427 are referred to.
