Abstract
887,578. Aerials; R.F. couplings. ATLASWERKE A.G. June 1, 1960 [June 1, 1959], No. 19396/60. Class 40(7). "Shell" waves, i.e. parasitic oscillations, on a conductor in the radiation field of an aerial are suppressed by surrounding the conduits at various points with a ferromagnetic material of high self damping at the frequencies to be suppressed. The cable 5 feeding an aerial 1, 2 is surrounded by ferromagnetic dampers 6-11. Placing these at current maxima of the quasi-stationary energy distribution suppresses "shell" waves over a narrow band of frequencies and placing one at the earthed foot of cable 5 suppresses a wider band. Support rods and bracing wires may be similarly treated
