Abstract

887,404. Water detection. ANSUL CHEMICAL CO. Oct. 25, 1960 [Nov. 17, 1959], No. 36657/60. Class 97(3). A moisture indicating device for installing in a refrigerating system comprises a T-shaped body 1 having open ends and a threaded side arm 2, and a housing 8, screwed into the side arm 2 and rendered fluid-tight by a gasket 3, the housing 8 containing a window 9, moisture indicating colour elements 6, 7, porous backup pads 5 and self-locking retaining ring 4. The pads 5 and elements 6, 7, may be of arcuate shape and accommodated in similar shaped recesses in the underside of window 9. Before housing 8 is screwed into side arm 2 the ends 12, 13, of body 1 are sweat soldered into the refrigerating system. A colour chart plate 11 'having segments of different colours may be provided for comparison with the 'elements 6, 7. U.S.A. Specifications 2,761,312 and 2,836,974 are referred to.
