Abstract
886,912. Gravity-separation apparatus. NORSTEL & TEMPLEWOOD HAWKSLEY Ltd. June 22, 1960, No. 21858/60. Class 46. In Fig. 2 a serum scraper blade 1 hinged for limited vertical movement to a rotating frame B has just passed over a hopper 3, slid down a ramp 21, and dropped to its normal position. Fig. 3 (looking inwards), shows it at an earlier stage where it is just about to traverse the hopper on members 11, Fig. 2. Shortly after the Fig. 3 position a roller 4b on a lever 4 (pivoted to the frame B) engages an arm 5 secured to a shaft 5a journalled in a bracket 12 projecting from the hopper 3. The shaft 5a also carries arms 6 bearing rollers 6a which on rotation of the shaft 5a raise a box 2 about pivots 2a on the hopper 3, so as to discharge the liquid in the box down the hopper, washing away scum. Subsequently the roller 4b rides up over the end of arm 5, allowing the box to sink back again, filling with liquid through an aperture 2c as it does so, until it rests on bracket 12 once more (see Fig. 3). Downward movement of the scraper blade 1 is limited by a stop 10, Fig. 3, which engages links 1a. The blade 1 may scrape the inner wall of the tank.
