Abstract
886,098. Assembling machines. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO. Ltd., MURPHY, B. J. M., and WARD, G. F. April 18, 1958 [April 18, 1957], No. 12645/57. Class 17(1) A last L is positioned upside-down on a block 12 by means of a positioning plate P on its crown face, so shaped that it engages with positioning fingers 16a, 16b on the block. A bracket 18 pivoted in the block supports pivotally the lower end of an upstanding gauge member 20 which is biased by springs 24a to engage the back of the last. When the upper U is fitted to the last, the top 20c of the member 20 forms an abutment against which the lower edge of the upper can be brought to bear. The position of the member 20 can be adjusted by screw 30. Specification 863,464 is referred to.
