Abstract

886,034. Surgical syringes. KNOCH, M. H. March 31, 1959 [April 10, 1958], No. 10929/59. Class 81 (2). A vaginal syringe comprises a cylinder 2 with two channels, one channel 7 extending through the cylinder and both channels opening into a diametrical -groove 12 in a nozzle 3, the one channel having at its other end a hollow flexible ball 1 and the other channel having openings 5, 13 near the ball and the nozzle respectively and a check valve 11. The other channel which is formed by the cylinder is connected to a tank through the cylinder opening 5 near the ball. For use, the syringe is passed through a hole 15 in a basin 14 which is placed over the vulva, its edge having a deformable insert 18. Additional openings which may be plugged are disposed in the cylinder and the basin. In use, the syringe is projected into the basin so that the cylinder openings near the nozzle are not exposed and, with a second opening (not shown) in the cylinder near the ball unplugged for the escape of air, the ball is alternately squeezed and released so that liquid from the tank fills the channels. The second cylinder opening is then plugged so that, on further squeezing and releasing the ball, liquid is alternately projected into and withdrawn from the vagina. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 803,638.
