Abstract
885,993. Degasifying steel. BOCHUMER VEREIN FUR GUSSSTAHLFABRIKATION A. G. May 28, 1958 [June 5, 1957], No. 17051/58. Class 72. Apparatus for the vacuum treatment of steel comprises a vessel having two chambers, one larger and one smaller, connected by a duct, removably secured below a ladle in a gas-tight manner and an outlet, stopper rod, and removable cover on the smaller chamber. As shown, the vessel 4 comprises a large chamber 5 secured to a ladle 1 by a gas-tight connection 2, 6 and connected by a duct 7 to a smaller chamber 8 provided with an outlet 11 a stopper rod 12, and a removable cover 9 having a peep-hole 13 and a ventilator 16. The two chambers are subjected to a vacuum and steel is poured into the chamber 5 from which it flows into the chamber 8. When the level of steel in the chamber 8 is above the duct 7 the vacuum in the chamber 8 released through the ventilator 16 and the steel poured through the outlet 11.
