Abstract
884,788. Making slide fasteners; shearing. YOSHIDA, T. March 19, 1959 [Oct. 16, 1958; Nov. 8, 1958], No. 9639/59. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). Apparatus for removing teeth 24, 25 from a covered slide fastener comprises a supporting member 10 having a narrow slot 6 for holding both tapes 16, 17 of the fastener, a die 8 and a punch 4 having spaced cutting edges 21, 22 which upon the die 8 and the punch 4 being brought together remove portions of interengaged teeth 24, 25 to detach the teeth 24, 25 from the tapes 16, 17. The supporting member 10 is resiliently mounted on a spring 5, which is compressed when the punch 4 moves down to shear the teeth 24, 25. In a modification the punch is fixed and the die moves.
