Abstract

884,483. Contacting a gas with a liquid. AIRFILPAT HOLDINGS (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. Feb. 8, 1960 [March 6, 1959; Sept. 10, 1959], No. 4376/60. Class 55 (2). In an apparatus for contacting a gas with a liquid the gas enters a chamber 2 containing a vertical perforated partition I through which the gas passes, the whole of the partition being sprayed with liquid at a pressure of at least 50 1b. per square inch from a nozzle 4 and the dimensions and area of the perforations in the partition being such that a layer of liquid particles rebounding from the partition is formed in the close vicinity of the upstream side of the partition. The partition may be formed of spaced parallel rods, tensioned wires, wire mesh or perforated metal sheet. The depth of the layer of rebounding liquid particles is preferably at least one inch.
