Abstract
883,772. Feeding flat tags. EVANCO ENGINEERING CO. (WALTHAMSTOW) Ltd. June 24, 1959 [July 4, 1958], No. 20218/59. Divided out of 883,771. Class 117. [Also in Group XVII] Apparatus for feeding a succession of securing tags into position for securing a wrapping or a filled bag, comprises a magazine 14 disposed above a channelled plate 8 and housing a stack of the tags and a slider 10 operating in the channel 9 for sliding the tags into a position in which the bag or wrapping is applied thereto. The tags are as described in Specification 883,771. The apparatus comprises a plate 13 secured to the plate 8 which is mounted on a plate 3. The handle 11 of the slider 10 carries a tension spring 12 passing through slots in the plates 8, 3 and mounted on the plate 3. The lowermost tag in the stack is moved partly along the channel 9 by the slider 10 which is then returned to its original position by the spring 12. When the next tag is slid along the channel it pushes the first tag into engagement with a fibre support 6 and a rubber support 7, the support 6 vertically displacing one prong of the forked tag. The twisted neck of a filled polythene bag resting on an adjustable platform 19, is inserted between the two prongs and the tag is removed from the apparatus when the bag is removed. A weight 15 rests on the stack which is held in the magazine 14 by a plate 17. One or more of the vertical faces of the stack may be sprayed with adhesive which is shorn by the slider 10.
