Abstract

A tampon is made from alginic acid fibres, obtained, for example, by treating calcium alginate with hydrochloric acid, and is then combined with a spermicidal substance, such as quinine, or with a wetting agent having similar qualities, such as sodium dioctyl sulphosuccinate.
